Weekly Recs
It’s time again for you to give your weekly recs! This week we’re looking for your favourite fics/art you’ve seen over the past week and those fics/art that fit into the genre of the week!
This week the genre of fanwork recs we’re looking for is: gifset! We want your favourite gifsets that you’ve seen, from those that have spliced together James and Q’s relationship from a variety of movies, and those gifsets that capture your favourite movie scene!
When reccing fic/art, please can you make a separate comment with ‘Week Rec’ in the subject title. If you’re commenting anon, then just put your handle in brackets after the ‘Weekly Rec’ bit - eg Weekly Rec (cass). This just helps your friendly mod hunt down all your links and put them into the weekly rec post!

The MI6 prompt bingo table continues! We’re releasing a new prompt every week up to when Spectre is released in the UK on November 6th. You can write/draw/create anything of your choice in response to the prompt, and you can post fills for any of the revealed prompt!
This week the prompt is: “I was taking some overdue holiday”.
You can post your fills anywhere you like – tumblr, in the comments section of the weekly chat, to your own LJ! Feel free to link your fills in the chat, and don’t forget to tag your prompt fills with #mi6cafeprompt so everyone can share the 00Q love!

ohhh, well, Q would wish 1) for James to survive until retirement from the field (45y/o) 2) for, idk, not world piece but maybe for terrorists, extremists and other people they spend their time fighting against to, maybe tone it down a little? so he can have the whole weekend off every now and then? I mean he doesn't want to become redundant but it would be nice for innocent people to stop dying, too... I have no idea what his third one would be, maybe something to do with his family? maybe one of his cousins needs luck in a small business venture or something
... James would wish 1) to not get old and creaky and redundant. I have no idea if he'd specify immortality or death before the age of about 60, 2) have enough money that he can both buy all the things he wants and throw as much money at charities and other good causes, because it makes him feel a bit less like death, destroyer of worlds or whatever if he does stuff that helps people in need (that he doesn't encounter with work) every now and then... and again I have no idea what the third one would be

I honestly have no idea about Q's music taste because he probably keeps up to date with new music which... I don't really do. at all. so this is waaay one sided
... also Eve has every signal version of True Colours' (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Colours_(Split_Enz_album)) album sleeve on her wall in pristine condition (I give my faves my music tastes, deal with it)

oh my god I have no idea. James I think maybe... secretly wishes for domesticity? even though he knows he couldn't stand it if he was stuck in it all the time? Q... I think Q really wishes he could travel, but being scared of flying and not really having time to explore the world the slow way makes it really hard... honestly idk

oh god this is another one that I have no idea about, besides the whole Bond-would-never-be-able-to-enjoy-sex-with-restraints-or-pain-which-rules-out-a-lot-of-bdsm-things theory

Oh, come on, I like Marvel! I really haven't watched that many Disney movies, so idk. Seriously, I'm terrible at this question because all I've really watched is Beauty and the Beast and The Incredibles, and I'm a lot younger than both of them so idk which ones they would have grown up with

I have another one in my read-later thing, but I have way too many pages in that and I can't be bothered looking for it

Date: 2015-09-21 07:15 am (UTC)Q: The ability to unerringly find whatever he wants, especially his agents, and including any traitors or disloyal people in the department; the ability to be the best in the world at his job (genie: "there's not loads of changes to make; you could probably just wait for a couple more years of on the job experience" Q: "TWO YEARS IS TOO LONG"); an ever-light, ultra-secure Mary Poppins bag, or possibly a Discworld Luggage.
2. Bond: ABBA. He knows all the words to "Dancing Queen" and "Gimme A Man After Midnight." He even likes Mamma Mia.
Q: Pop earworms like "California Girls" and that one song by One Direction.
3. Bond: The one with the collar and leash that is actually pretty cute. The one where he's having a nightmare and he wakes up to Q shaking his shoulder instead of throwing a pillow at him from across the room, because in the fantasy it's no longer dangerous for Q to try to touch him when he's waking up from a bad dream. The one where Q is the 00 agent and Bond is the Quartermaster--but really Bond just wants to wear some glasses and do some tsking and such while Q acts like an insouciant rebel; the fantasy always vagues up the idea of Q as a 00 because Bond doesn't want to think about Q having to do the things a 00 has to.
Q: Bond returns all of his equipment, AND HIMSELF, in perfect condition after a mission; no extra paperwork means Q can take the rest of the evening and (fuck it) the next day too off so all they have to worry about is relaxing together. He and Bond find a fountain of youth and after a respectable few decades at MI6 they get to fuck off and travel the world and have adventures together while Q explores technologies that haven't even been invented yet. The one where professionalism isn't a thing and Q can ask Bond to give him nice, deep love bites and say "Keep going, yes, give me more" instead of "Stop it, you bastard, I have work and that's above the collar." The one where Q can magically deep throat without any effort or lasting vocal effects instead of having to work at it and sounding a bit hoarse afterward. The one where Bond lets him be gentle and likes it.
4. Q: He makes a mistake, or he takes a night off at the wrong time, and Bond dies in various hideous fashions and it's all Q's fault. He walks into work one morning and Bond makes a point of kissing a beautiful woman in front of him and refuses to talk to him, and Q never finds out what made Bond give up on their relationship. He somehow gets sacked and finds out that Bond doesn't want him if Q's not his Quartermaster...not Q anymore. He wakes up one morning only to find out that he's been programmed like the Manchurian Candidate and can no longer be trusted not to have subconscious designs on his country. He's captured and they do something to his brain and it's all very Flowers For Algernon and he's stuck in a care home to struggle with basic Sudoku for the rest of his life.
Bond: Q is a traitor, another Vesper, only this time Bond stops him from killing himself and has to endure the knowledge that Q'll now be pumped for information and disposed of afterward. He can't get it up any longer for an undiagnosable reason and loses his job, his pride, and Q because of it. He has to choose between saving Q and the mission; he can't decide which choice is the worst. He finally does something scary enough to make Q run away from him, sometimes for good reason, and he looks and looks but can never find him after that.
5. Bond: Whatever's on the in-flight when there aren't any better options. He's seen a lot of them. As a child, he enjoyed Robin Hood and The Aristocats.
Q: The Lion King. Mulan. The Muppets, especially Muppet Treasure Island.

Date: 2015-09-23 05:10 am (UTC)2. Thanks! I like the idea of Bond singing "Waterloo" without thinking about it and suddenly realizing that Q is his. :D For Q, I was thinking of the more modern song. It takes Q a while to get used to Bond's old-fashioned musical palate, but eventually there are days when he finds himself humming "Don't Stand So Close," etc.

I actually am not fond of the idea of Q as a traitor and will be super 100 percent amazingly pissed off if that's the direction that they go in canon. But I do think it is a bit of a nightmare that Bond would have!
