Weekly Recs!
We had some wonderful weekly recs last week for the theme 'first time'! This week, as well as those fanworks you've seen over the past week, we want to see your fanwork recs for the genre of:
Summer Holidays!
Yes that's right, we want all of those fanworks that have James and Q on holiday, trying to go on holiday, or being stuck on a deserted island and then they kind of make it into a holiday anyway!!
Developing the Comm
There will be separate post for all the comm plans up sometime over the weekend (namely, when I've had a chance to write them up!!)
Question Time!
1) Who would you say is you favourite fan creator in the 00Q fandom? Why is this? (You can have more than one!)
2) Do you tend to leave comments on fic/art work?
3) What do you think James and Q's hobbies would be? Why is this?
If you have any more questions, please feel free to add more! :)

I'm excited to hear about comm development, yay!

1) 00Q fandom is so amazingly talented and diverse that it's hard to pick a favorite! winterhill and dhampir72 consistently create lovely fics that make me think and feel in the best kinds of ways. Only_1_Truth is my favorite long-fic writer; it's been a true pleasure to see them grow as a writer in the 00Q community!

2) I'm actually super curious about my own reading-to-comment ratio right now, because I like to think that I'm fairly good about leaving comments, but then again...maybe not. I probably comment on maybe a third of the fics that I feel I ought to comment on--ones that I really like, or have read multiple times, or made me feel something very strongly. What makes you guys comment on a fic?

3) Bond cooks. It's nice to spend some time being creative and constructive after being a destructive force on missions, plus the food is its own reward and it tends to impress people when you're trying to pull. Also, if he's in the mood to avoid people because humanity sucks, he doesn't even have to tip a delivery boy.

Q has various online communities that he's involved in, some of which involve mentoring and gently steering up-and-coming young grey hats away from international espionage and toward genuinely useful opensource software creation, and some of which involve online Scrabble tournaments and webcomics and talking about the latest foreign films he's watched as a way to keep up with his languages.

4) Really self-indulgent question: How or why would James and Q approach/use/enjoy role play in their relationship? Or would they? (Any kind of role play--not just BDSM, and not even necessarily sexual in nature. Doctor/Jack Harkness? Pirate/first mate? Puppy and indulgent caretaker? Or even a Quartermaster and 007 switch? Or what about the times when they might have to use it on-mission? Whatever comes to mind for you guys!)

1) Who would you say is you favourite fan creator in the 00Q fandom? Why is this? (You can have more than one!) ooooooh jeez, that's a hard one. not everyone I love is still active in the fandom, let's see: dhampir72 and skylights come to mind, and a_xmasmurder... as far as art goes, you can't go past beili
2) Do you tend to leave comments on fic/art work? not as often as I should, but I always reblog (tumblr) and leave kudos (ao3) so that people know I liked their thing. I know how important comments are to writers, being one myself, but it's hard to think of things to say every time
3) What do you think James and Q's hobbies would be? Why is this? Cooking for James - sure, he spends a lot of time out of the country, but when he's in London there's only so much eating out he can stand before he gets bored. Also, I think he tinkers with his cars a bit, when he has time, although the tricky stuff he leaves to the professionals. Q, on the other hand... I think his work is his hobby

I love the idea of Bond tinkering on his cars! I bet he secretly watches reality shows that are about restoring old classic cars. Maybe he has a small dream that one day he'll show off his well-preserved classics to the world in one of the tours or competitions, but he knows that that will have to wait until he's retired if ever... He's a bit scared even though he really wants to do it, because he's so aware of the James Bond Field of Destruction and would hate to inadvertently get such nice classic cars blown up just because he's in the vicinity.

And maybe he watches cooking shows too, for background while he cleans his guns or cooks.

Q despairs of Bond's terrible taste in TV and occasionally demands that he put on something with an actual script.

... I have a new headcanon now: James Bond has appalling taste in TV shows. He really likes terrible reality tv.

He votes religiously re: Dancing with the Stars. If he's on-mission, he makes Q vote for him.

He watches Survivor and gets surprisingly into it, kind of the way that an Olympic athlete might still enjoy rooting for the local small town league.

(Am I the kind of trash that wants an MI6 Survivor AU? Or, hell, some kind of cracky in-canon Survivor fic? Maayyybe.)

(I haven't even watched the show in years...but I want Bond and Q being the antagonistic-yet-with-respect-for-mutual-competence leaders of Red and Blue team until SUDDENLY THERE IS A TWIST and they are both on the same side and then one of them picks the other to go on a reward trip with them and they end up showering and cuddling and being relieved that they don't have to eat gruel or w/e together. And Silva is a manipulative creep, and M is the long-suffering showrunner, and Tanner is the host guy who explains everything, and Eve, IDK, succeeds in getting Bond voted off until OHOHO WE ARE BRINGING BACK ONE OF THE ELIMINATED CONTESTANTS BUT CERTAINLY NOT BECAUSE THE LACK OF 00Q CHEMISTRY HAS LOWERED OUR RATINGS OR ANYTHING. *cough* Ahem. Anyway.)

oh jeez that would be amazing (and hilarious)

I've never watched Survivor but last night we were watching Total Wipeout (plain old Wipeout if you're in the US) and I was thinking how ridiculous a fictional characters episode would be. I mean, I was thinking the Avengers, but can you imagine the Bond crew playing? James goes well until he reaches the big balls, he makes it to the second one before falling in (he manages to do a dramatic flip which gets replayed like 5 times), Q tries to use strategy which sort of works, Carter (from Casino Royale) falls in the mud right at the start of each obstacle, Villiers is the average Joe who doesn't even get a silly nickname and Eve surprises everyone by aceing all the courses and beating Bond easily in the Wipeout Zone

I've never watched Wipeout, but it sounds similar to Ninja Warrior, which I've seen a bit of. Love the idea of Bond doing a dramatic exit into the water, as he tends to do. (More proof that Bond is secretly a water elemental: plunging into deep water only seems to make him come back stronger. But with Wipeout the whole coming back stronger thing doesn't really work when you're disqualified and don't get dogged persistence points, haha. Messes with Bond's M.O. a bit!) And I am so here for Eve kicking everyone's butt through sheer well-qualified competence. Lol at Q: You tried, buddy. And probably got farther than people expected you to, which is what matters. At least you beat Carter!

I was just thinking about this one, but couldn't remember what it was called! Saves me the trouble of finding it. Thanks! :D

I couldn't remember who it was by or what it was called, so some frantic searching was involved
