It’s time again for you to give your weekly recs! This week we’re looking for your favourite fics/art you’ve seen over the past week and those fics/art that fit into the genre of the week!

This week the genre of fanwork recs we’re looking for is: Humour. We want the silly fics, the hilarious comics, and the most ridiculous crack based fanworks that the fandom has seen!

When reccing fic/art, please can you make a separate comment with ‘Week Rec’ in the subject title. If you’re commenting anon, then just put your handle in brackets after the ‘Weekly Rec’ bit - eg Weekly Rec (cass). This just helps your friendly mod hunt down all your links and put them into the weekly rec post!

1) How do Bond and Q feel about revenge? To what lengths would they go to achieve it? How would they exact their vengeance?
James tends not to be really interested in revenge... unless you make it really personal. I'm really interested in what happens to White in Spectre, because I had a fic idea of him hunting White down and killing him, but idk what might happen in canon.
I think Q is more spiteful - he'll take revenge on someone for something more petty, but he wouldn't go to the extremes that James, if properly motivated, could.

2) Under what circumstances would Bond and Q agree to a polyamorous relationship?
uummm. I'd say they are in an open relationship, but idk about poly - I think James definitely gets possessive, but idk really. I've never really thought of it before!

3) Did either or both of them have some kind of scouting/orienteering youth organisation experience in their youth? If so, what was that experience like?
oooh I was thinking about this the other day! James was homeschooled while his parents were alive, so when he goes to live with his aunt and she sends him to the local school, he also joins the local scout troop. He doesn't necessarily make lots of friends, but he learns a lot of stuff (I was a scout for 7 years, so I've got a bit of a soft spot for it). He has to stop going when he goes to boarding school, but then there are lots of sport teams for him to join, orienteering camps to go on, mountains to climb etc.
Q is a city kid, London born and bred, and played football for a while (though that didn't last very far into high school) but he didn't join any other sort of clubs or anything.

4) Oxford comma: Who’s on which side of the debate?
Neither of them really care. Eve, on the other hand - you'll have to pry the oxford comma from her cold, dead, hands.

5) Which one agrees to pet-sit for a work colleague without consulting their partner first, and why?
I don't think either of them would? They both have such unpredictable work schedules so it's not really practical. Although Q and Eve did share a cat before Q became Quartermaster (it was Eve's cat, but it spent more time with Q because she spent half the year out of the country).

3) Oh, I forgot that James was homeschooled! Good reminder. God, going from homeschooled in Scotland to a local school in England (is England right?) must have just been one more big change to adjust to after losing his parents. What on earth would the first day of school have been like for young Bond, still grieving,( still more used to Skyfall than elsewhere, still more comfortable with all the chores that come with living in the country than he is with walking into a roomful of people his age? I mean, he adapted, as Bond does, and he would have been used to traveling, but I imagine there was a bit of culture shock. I can see why he'd want to join the Scouts: keep up with the outdoors stuff, have some facilitated peer socialization...

1. This is a hard one. I think the petty revenge would depend on how bored Bond is. On the whole, he'd rather spend his time on pleasanter, more productive things, but if it's his third straight week on medical leave and someone starts asking to be taught a lesson, then Bond will probably grab the excuse for a mission-like activity with both hands. Q has learned not to open the personal revenge floodgates because things tend to spin into supervillain territory, but everyone knows that if you try to play "bully the nerd" in Q Branch then you'll get what's coming to you.

For Revenge with a capital R, Q is better at waiting and planning when he needs to, and Bond is better at physical confrontations. They're both ultimately lethal.

2. Like isthisrubble said, they're in a bit of an open relationship since Bond has sex with people on the job. OTOH, I think of Q as usually being more interested in his work than in pulling while Bond's gone--wanking is much more efficient. I think they'd agree to polyamory if it was with someone they both trusted:, trusted to be loyal, and not to be a jealous berk, and not to be someone who'll provoke jealousy or in-fighting intentionally. Bond and Q would also obviously have to be in a place where they were comfortable communicating pretty openly with each other. But there are benefits to having an extra layer to your support network, especially when your jobs are so demanding, and with the right person the extra work would be worth it. (Fics with fanon!Alec and Skanda have been pretty convincing to me.)

3. Q rose rapidly through various levels of schooling, and his parents put him in the scouts in an effort to socialize him with peers his own age, which actually worked pretty well. It helped Q channel his intelligence into leadership skills, too, thanks to a scout leader with a trick of refusing to move on to the next lesson until everybody had learned the current one. Q got good at resource management. He also ended up doing Duke of Edinburgh, an orienteering exercise, because his scout leader tricked him into saying it looked easy and then told him to put his money where his mouth was. Q will never tell Bond about the time he and his mates got lost in the rain, their "waterproof" coats completely soaked, and were chased through a field of greasy, woolly sheep by an irate sheepdog.

I think Bond did scouts for a while, mostly for the practical knowledge and for his aunt's peace of mind, but got impatient with all the rules and regulations and the fact that it was taking up time he could be spending at parties discovering his adolescent sexuality. He wouldn't have continued it very far into secondary school, I don't think, even if his boarding school had had the resources.

4. Oxford comma: Bond doesn't care, and Q switches sides in order to troll whoever he's talking to about it.

5) Bond would agree if he could get something good out of it, if he were medically laid up for long enough, and if he wanted to needle Q in a fairly harmless way. Besides, he likes dogs, and isn't psych always saying that he should do something besides drinking, fucking, and killing people?
Q would agree if the favor in exchange were big enough and, given his schedule, if the animal didn't need a lot of time and social attention: some kind of reptile, probably. Reptiles are pretty cool-looking to come home to for a little while, and with all the extra classes Q took as a child (and saving money for a fast-approaching uni) there was no money in the budget for pets.

Yes, that fic is one of my favorites too! But truthfully, you guys are so talented that I have lots and lots of favorites.

P.S: I've been organizing a spreadsheet of 00Q fics from Ao3 (listed by Author, Title, Rating, Date, Word Count, Summary, Link, and Keywords). That is my personal way of organizing the fics so I can read some particular fics when the mood strikes. I don't know if anyone would be interested if I shared it?
